BHS, Inc., Unveils Material Handling Solutions for Pallets, Barrels, and Drums

June 13, 2017 - St. Louis, MO — BHS, Inc. a leading manufacturer of custom material handling for warehouses and forklift battery handling operations, has released two new products designed to simplify specialty material handling for industrial applications.

Both new offerings — the Pallet Carousel & Skid Positioner and the Drum Tilter Tabletop attachment for BHS Tilt Tables — provide valuable ergonomic benefits for specific workplace tasks. They prevent musculoskeletal injuries associated with manual lifting and repetitive motion. At the same time, they improve efficiency and overall operation productivity.

"Our engineers study warehouse conditions and provide solutions wherever they see hazards or inefficiency, or both," said Katy Cortinovis, Marketing Manager at BHS. "That's what led to the development of the PCP and the new Tilt Table surface, with the Drum Tilter. They're engineering controls for ergonomics, but they're also just more efficient ways to get the job done."

The Pallet Carousel & Skid Positioner (model PCP) is a self-leveling work station with 360-degree access through a heavy-duty turntable surface. Taken together, these features make pallet-building and unloading tasks simpler and safer.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has collected epidemiological studies of workplace injuries, finding clear evidence that links task repetition and awkward postures with tissue trauma. Both of these hazards are hallmarks of unsupported pallet-building and unpacking.

The PCP removes these hazards by keeping work at a consistent, ergonomically friendly level, even as items are added to or removed from the pallet. A steel base occupies a small footprint, allowing staff immediate access to the whole surface of the turntable without hazardous bending, reaching, or stretching.

Drum Tilter Tabletops provide advantages in ergonomics and productivity for working with barrels and drums. Steel vee-cradle rails and a strong flat tabletop attach to existing Tilt Tables, securely holding drums through the full range of the tilt. This provides access to contents without dangerous reaching and bending, and Drum Tilter Tabletops are ideal for order pickers or packers who work with components stored in drums or barrels.

"Tabletop attachments make a standard Tilt Table or Lift Table into a highly specific material handling device," Cortinovis said. "We're excited to get our Drum Tilter Tabletops out there into workplaces that need them."

Both new products are part of the BHS line of ergonomic warehouse and industrial equipment. Like other items in this collection, Drum Tilter Tabletops and Pallet Carousel & Skid Positioners feature powerful steel construction with a durable powder coating. This equipment resists abrasions, chemical damage, and common impacts. Visit http://www.bhs1.com to learn more about the growing line of warehouse equipment from BHS.
