Battery Room Regulations in Canada
Occupational safety and health (OSH) regulations in Canada differ from province to province, but they all require battery handling equipment with certain safeguards included on BHS products. Canada does not have one national source of standards for every workplace; instead, 14 separate jurisdictions create OSH regulations for their constituents.
Industry sectors that operate across provincial or national borders fall under a federal law, the Canada Labour Code, which gives the government power to create OSH regulations. Meanwhile, each of 10 provinces and three territories has its own OSH regulations on the books. For this reason, Canadian companies should contact local industrial attorneys to discuss the intricacies of their area's OSH legislation.
