What’s New at the 2019 NECA Convention in Las Vegas?

If you attended last year’s NECA convention, hosted in Philadelphia by the National Electrical Contractors Association, you already know that the event is on an upward trajectory. Between 2014 and 2017, just over 6,000 people attended each year. In 2018, the number of participants exploded to over 10,000!

If anything, NECA 2019 promises to be even bigger. So what can attendees expect from the latest edition of the top convention for construction electricians? More of the same, for one thing. Thousands of products, hundreds of exhibitors, dozens of educational sessions.

But there are also a few new features that make NECA 2019 even better than previous years. Here are a few features that electricians who make the trek to Las Vegas will enjoy at NECA 2019:

  • Leadership Education - NECA’s educational opportunities are one of its strongest offerings. Trade Show Education workshops take place right on the show floor, so visitors can drop in and pick up the latest industry intel.

This year marks an expansion in the NECA Trade Show Education program. They’ve added workshops on leadership, designed specifically for managers in electrical industries.

  • Technology Systems Integration Workshops - The second new category of Trade Show Education Workshops at NECA is devoted to the speeding pace of technological change in the industry. Expert instructors will help explain what’s new in technology, covering subjects like the Internet of Things (IOT), Power over Ethernet (POE), and 5G rollouts.
  • Canine-Assisted Stress Reduction - Let’s face it: NECA is a busy place. Sometimes it’s nice to take a break and recharge — preferably in the company of adorable puppies. Stop by NECA’s Pause for Paws booth to visit with some adoptable little dogs.
  • Learning to Play Like a Local - After a long day of networking and building professional skills, you may be tempted to try your luck at the casinos. This convention is in Las Vegas, after all. Well, if you’ve always wanted to try a little Black Jack or Roulette, but you’re too embarrassed to jump into the deep end, NECA has you covered. The Instructional Gaming Lounge on the show floor is full of friendly professional dealers who will teach you to play some of Vegas’ hottest games, just in time for the closing bell.
  • All New Showstoppers - In previous years, one of the highlights of this show has been the Showstoppers Showcase, presented by Electrical Contractor This year, a whole new crop of advanced products and services for electricians will compete for blue ribbons at the Showcase. It’s a great place to begin your day of learning what the future of the industry holds.

In addition to these highlights, NECA 2019 will also serve up its Techtopia area, full of the latest gadgets and services, a Product Presentation Theater, and, of course, the best networking of the year.
